Hurricane sandy, is it safe in ontario?

Even though I’m in Ontario news channels are saying it will affect Ontario, Canada. My mayor is encouraging for people to stay home he said that yesterday.. There may be a chance of flooding for us and possible power outrages. No one is saying whether people are okay to leave the house or not today is Monday. Should I allow my daughter to go to school or stay home? Please answer and if you have information or stories please share

Chosen Answer:

“Everyone in the Maritimes, certainly everyone is southern Quebec and eastern and southern Ontario should be monitoring this storm,” said spokesman Bob Robichaud.
-
The Canadian Hurricane Centre states, “Hurricane Sandy to transition to large and dangerous post-tropical cyclone on Monday. Parts of Maritimes as well as Southern Ontario and Quebec will feel some far-reaching effects from post-tropical storm Sandy later on Monday and Tuesday”.

Based on the current forecast scenario, rain from post-tropical Sandy will not begin to affect Canadian territory until later Monday night or Tuesday morning.

You are probably safe sending your daughter to school today. However, trust your local mayor, Keep your daughter home and safe if the mayor advises it.

I hope this is helpful.
Please be careful.
