So im currently taking a geoscience class. My teacher was talking to us about the current nor’easter snow storm about to hit (Nemo). He asked us what the original/official name for a snow storm/ nor’easter was. I CANT REMEMBER WHAT HE SAID! It was two words, sounded like a scientists name….i think the first word started with an A….can anyone help? have any ideas what he was talking about or what the name was?

Chosen Answer:

an extra tropical cyclone that rides up the east coast, feeding off of warmth and moisture of the gulf stream current, hitting the NE coast where they are below the 540 line thus producing snow, especially as cyclonic winds bring cold air down from the north. I don’t know of any two word name that starts with an A, though :/ I do know that winter storms are not recognizably named by anyone except TWC. They might think it’s cute, but it’s all in an effort to hype things up. They start hyping things up too much, and people will start to think they’re crying wolf.
